Plasma polymerization: chemical analysis of the plasma gas phase

چکیده
The polymerization by radiofrquency (RF) plasma of different monomers (methyl methacrylate (MMA), tetraglyme and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA)) has been carried out. The plasma gas was investigated by optical emission spectroscopy (OES) in the UV-vis wavelength rang. The excited species formed in the plasma were identified for the different monomers. From computer simulations of the ro-vibration bands, the rotational and vibrational temperatures were derived for the molecular bands of different diatomic excited species. In the tetraglyme plasmas, nitrogen impurity was found, where excited radicals CN, N2 , and N2 were observed. The vibrational temperatures derived from the analyses of the different emission bands are close to each other (≈3800K). On the other hand, the XPS surface analysis of deposited thin films did not show any contamination of nitrogen. Correlating information between the plasma gas and the deposited organic thin films is important to understand the physical and chemical processes leading to organic polymer formation by plasma.

New insights into aging phenomena from plasma chemistry
While gas discharges under atmospheric pressure occur as filamentary discharges, most studies on plasma polymerization, or plasma Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD), were carried out in low-pressure (low temperature, non-equilibrium) plasma. However, it is reasonable to assume that the fundamentals of plasma polymerization found by low-pressure discharge apply to the gas phase in the filamentary ...

In this paper the effect of plasma spray parameters, atomizing gas and substrate preheat temperature on microstructure and phase composition of YSZ coatings produced by SPPS process have been investigated. The experimental results showed that increasing the power of plasma, using hydrogen as the precursor atomizing gas and increasing substrate preheat temperature decrease the amount of non-pyro...

Objective(s): Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction coupled with gas chromatography (GC)-flame ionization detector was developed for the determination of valproic acid (VPA) in human plasma. Materials and Methods: Using a syringe, a mixture of suitable extraction solvent (40 µl chloroform) and disperser (1 ml acetone) was quickly added to 10 ml of diluted plasma sample containing VPA (pH, 1....

In recent years, plasma treatments have given good results since they offer high technological efficiency with low waste generation. One of the most important characteristics of plasma methods is their action only on a thin surface layer, whereas the bulk of sample remains unchanged and the modified material keeps its chemical and mechanical properties. In this research, polyurethane membrane s...
